As a mom who wants to feed her kids food that they will not only like but that is also good for them, it has not always been easy.
I have 4 very active children ages We are the ultimate on the go family, band competitions, football games, basketball games, cheerleading, gymnastics. You name it, my kids jump for the opportunity. Thanks to Natalie Slater and her book bake and destroy I have been able to conquer 3 parts of our. Breakfast, lunch and on the go snacks. As soon I received this book my kids had so many meals planned out for the up coming week. We started the day off with Whole Wheat Choco-coconut Donuts.
They loved them!

Next they each packed Chicago-Style Sammich for their lunch. My children always want an after school snack. Their favorite has become Cujo Chow. I often find my children reading or doing their homework with this snack.
I am happy that the snack they choose is not one loaded with preservatives and artificial ingredients. How have you dealt with this challenges? Do you believe we should show children the process of how animals are turned into products? Kids ask those questions anyway. Every adult I know, vegan or not, can remember the moment they asked where meat came from and learned the truth.
Glorious Vegan Junk Food: Natalie Slater of Bake and Destroy
Even the ones who still eat meat have told me how horrified they were. I have a do no harm philosophy regarding all living creatures. I try to leave harmless insects where I find them, and relocate anything with the potential to bite or sting. I also try to support vegan-owned businesses whenever I can. What form of activism do you take part in? I think that leading by example is a powerful form of activism.
Be patient and treat people with kindness, engage in civil discourse.

I recommend it to every woman I know. My favorite thing to make is so, so simple. Be as kind to yourself as you are to animals. Chicago has an amazing, ever-growing vegan scene. Loads of restaurants, vegan-owned businesses, and tons of activists. Living cruelty-free means making compassionate choices — choosing not to eat or wear animal products, choosing not to buy things that were tested on animals, and also showing compassion for the humans who are responsible for producing your food.
But it was such a specific quest, and I think most people have a hard time shopping for jeans regardless! At one point I dated an omnivore who traveled a lot for his job. So there were a lot of really sad salads eaten during that time.
