As this story begins, Ava is back at college, transitioning into life with the humans while the Council watches to make sure she stays Find this review and more at Lusty Penguin Reviews! As this story begins, Ava is back at college, transitioning into life with the humans while the Council watches to make sure she stays quiet about the Race.
I loved that Ava remains true to the character that I absolutely fell in love with in the first book. As Ava and Tiernan search for Caleb, they put their differences aside and surprisingly start building a friendship. Franklin consummately balances building new relationships and introducing new characters along with further developing her multilayer plot arcs into a stunning page-turning read. Franklin nicely ties up the major plot points of the second book, answers some lingering questions from the first book, and leaves just enough unanswered questions about the Rouges to leave readers anxious for the conclusion of the More series.
Memorable characters, pulse-pounding action, and an intricate plot make The Guardians a perfect read for adults and teens alike. If the first two books are any indication, then the third book in the More series should be epic. I, for one, cannot wait to see how this series will end. I received an eBook copy of the book from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review.
I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility. Mar 27, M. It took me a little to get into this book because it had been so long since I'd read the first. So, i put it down and read MORE again. It really helped as there are so many quirky little details to this world and to The race, that are important to Franklin's stories that they really should be fresh in your mind.
Caleb is as adorable as ever in this book. He still wears his 'geeky' face to those around him which endears him to me. I like my book boyfriends to be thinkers with a inner strength rather than out and out brawn. Although, he does have that too in his natural form, but that's ok.
Ava is also a character that I enjoyed reading about. Unlike many heroines in this genre annoy me for a number of reasons, but not her. Just how you want a female lead to be. I'm sick to death of the 'damsel in distress - must be rescued by a hot, rich hunk' types and Ava is as far from that as you can get. The relationship between the 2 is tested when Caleb disappears and Ava is suddenly being accused of all sort of crazy stuff.
The way Franklin writes most of this makes the reader consider both Ava and Caleb's innocence. I mean, if they're questioning themselves, then maybe they did do it I honestly can't wait until the release of the next book because the world that Franklin has created is one that sucks you in and doesn't quite let you go, even when the story is over.
If you like a paranormal story that makes you consider it could be possible, sort of, then this is the series for you! This surprises me, as most middle books are usually more filler and fluff, but this book actually moved the plot of this series along nicely. My only real complaint was I wanted more Ava and Caleb interaction, but I understood why this couldn't have happened in this book.
The story continues pretty much where More left off, with Caleb helping Ana hone in on her skills. I love that Franklin allowed Ana to be strong and feisty, I have to admit I think I liked this book a little bit more than More. I love that Franklin allowed Ana to be strong and feisty, yet her emotions and confusion over Caleb's actions felt honest.
Ana is struggling to find her place in this new world where she's not exactly human, and in this book she is also trying to clear her name from a crime she didn't commit, all the while trying to figure out why Caleb pulled a major disappearing act on her. Then there's Caleb, who for reasons unknown until the very end, is pulling away from Ava just when she needs him most. And boy, for a few chapters you want to kick him in his junk just to try and get him to snap out of it. And boy, that is one humdinger of an apology.
I have to say the supporting cast in this book was phenomenal and so well flushed out. Tiernan is just a fabulous character and the snappy dialogue between he and Ava makes you grin from ear to ear. Overall, a nice continuation to More with an intriguing plot and growth by all the characters as well. I enjoyed the added background about The Race which really filled in some of the gaps that was left for me in the first book. I still would have loved more interaction between Ava and Caleb, but the book stood on its own with a fast paced plot.
Really looking forward to the conclusion to this series. So this is part 2 of the More Series. The guardians picks up where more left off. I liked that we learn more about Tiernan i 4 Stars. I liked that we learn more about Tiernan in this book, and how he stepped up so to speak. What I really like is that although there are quite a few secondary characters in this series, they all feel fully fleshed out, and integral to the tale.
No one is superfluous and I feel we are given enough information about them all to know why they are in the story. Another great installment, looking forward to book 3, and the conclusion of this really enjoyable series! ARC provided by Netgalley. Jul 02, Anna rated it it was amazing Shelves: Franklin did not disappoint when it came to her sequel. This was just as fabulous as More. I loved watching Caleb and Ava grow together as a couple and then face the "dark forces" trying to separate them and take over the world I never even considered him a possible character to expand on, but talk about unlikely allies I didn't want him to leave the scene EVER!
I loved that we got to slowly learn little bits and pieces of Ava's past and how everything started to fit together. I'm excited to see where Franklin takes us with "The Twelve" and Ava's part in this story, as well as how the Council and Gideon will fit into the overall story How will Emma play in everything? Thanks for the opportunity to read it, it's been one of my favorites series to read this year!!! Tells of college student, Ava Michaels. She is in love with Caleb Foster who comes up missing. Throughout Ava's efforts to find Caleb, her life and others are at risk as The Rogues, a rebellious group of the race, follow plans of of their own which take everyone by surprise.
I can't wait to read the final book. This story is creative, riveting and original. It is a must of the shelf of all sci-fi, fantasy and even paranormal buffs. Terrific follow-up to the first book in the series, More. The Guardians is fast paced, full of action and intrigue. I was pulled in from the first page, didn't want to stop reading about Ava, Caleb, Tiernan and the others.
So looking forward to the final book in the trilogy. I loved the second book in this series and was quite surprised by the twist in it which is probably the whole idea! So looking forward to book 3.

The second book in the series often is not as good as the first, however this is not the case with this book. This book is filled with so much that things seem to twist and turn before your eyes. You certainly do not know who can be trusted and appearances of character can be deceiving. Ava and Caleb are of course in the middle of the book, and we see more of Tiernan who has wiggled his way into my good books. After Caleb acts strangely, he disappears, so Ava, with Tiernan in tow, goes to find him.
Along the way she finds herself wanted for murder and on the run. She also has Tiernan constantly checking in with the council as someone there has found a good 'finder of people'. They are told in which direction to head and find, instead of Caleb a teenage girl with strong powers that can manipulate the mind. They take her along with them to the colony in Canada that Caleb was going to take her to in book one. Once there Tiernan tries to help her with unlocking her powers in every way her can, but they get no where.
Gideon is the head of the guardians and is Calebs father. What reviewers are saying "Wow.
